Chinese Dragon Design
The reverse of each coin depicts a traditional Chinese dragon, a long, scaled, serpentine creature with four legs, and a ‘pearl of wisdom’. The Chinese character for ‘dragon’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Dragon’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark. This design also features a Bavarian Lion Privy mark.
The coin’s obverse bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and the monetary denomination.
A mintage of only 200,000 was issued for this coin.
