Native to Eastern and Southern Australia, these iconic birds are the largest members of the Kingfisher family and are known across Australia for their distinctive song and for the tenacity with which they defend their nests. Since their introduction in 1990, Silver Kookaburras have been prized by collectors who eagerly await the unveiling of a new design each year.

Original 2021 Kookaburra Design
The reverse of each 2021 1 troy oz Silver Australian Kookaburra coin portrays a kookaburra with leaves and seed pods synonymous with native eucalyptus trees.
The Perth Mint’s “P” mintmark and year-date are included in the design.
The coin’s obverse bears the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and the monetary denomination.
