Issued by The Perth Mint as part of its renowned Australian Lunar Series II, the 2009 Year of the Ox Silver Coin celebrates the second animal in the Chinese zodiac. This 1oz coin features a beautifully detailed design honoring those born under the sign of the Ox.
Lunar Ox Design
The reverse of each coin depicts an ox and a calf standing on grass with hills in the background. As well as the inscription ‘Year of the Ox’ and the Chinese character for ‘ox’, the design also incorporates The Perth Mint’s ‘P’ mintmark.
The obverse of each coin bears the Ian Rank-Broadley likeness of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the monetary denomination.
