Description
Struck in 999.9 fine gold, 2017 Year of the rooster Chinese Almanac coins are issued as part of the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s Fourth Chinese Almanac Coin Series (2017 – 2028). The coins feature the rooster against Kampong Buangkok which is Singapore’s last surviving village. Built in 1956, Kampong Buangkok, which is approximately the size of three football fields, was home to about 40 families in the 1960s. An area with overhead electrical lines, domestic animals roaming freely, dirt tracks leading to houses made of wooden planks and zinc roofs, Kampong Buangkok exudes an atmosphere of peace and tranquility. Today, about 28 families still live in the rustic village.
Obverse: Features the Singapore Coat of Arms, along with the year of issue (2017) . The inscription “Singapore” and the year of issuance are prominently displayed.
Reverse: Dedicated to the Year of the Rooster, showcasing an artistic representation of a Rooster . This design embodies characteristics attributed to the zodiac sign, such as loyalty, honesty, and a strong sense of duty. The artistry integrates elements of Singaporean culture and heritage with Chinese zodiac traditions. and the face value in Singapore dollars (5 SGD).
Mintage:3000 pieces , Limited mintage numbers are common for such collectible coins, making them highly sought after by collectors and investors.

Note: the packaging has some signs of wear but the coin is in good condition.
